16-Channel Servo Driver Module with 12-Bit PWM Control This compact module brings together a 16-channel servo driver and a 12-bit PWM controller in a single board, built around the PCA9685 IC. It offers a straightforward way to manage multiple servos or LED outputs from one I2C connection, making it well suited to robotics projects, model control systems and other embedded applications where precise output timing matters. Flexible Output Configuration Each of the sixteen channels can be set as a push-pull output, capable of absorbing 25mA sink current and providing 10mA source current at 5V. The outputs can also be programmed in software as open-drain LED outputs, with push-pull selected as the default. This flexibility means the same module can drive servos in one project and switch LEDs in another without additional hardware. Precise Brightness and Timing Control Every LED output supports 4096 levels of linear programmable brightness, giving 12-bit resolution from fully off through to full brightness. The output state can be programmed to update either on a response or on a stop command, with all outputs updating simultaneously or individually as required. The default is set to update on a stop command, and a low-active output activation input pin allows the LED outputs to be programmed to 0, 1 or high impedance, with high impedance selected at power-on. Fast I2C Interface The module uses an I2C bus interface compatible with the MHz Fast Mode Plus standard, and the SDA line offers a 30mA high drive capacity to handle high-capacitance connections reliably. This makes the module easy to integrate into existing microcontroller setups, whether you are controlling a bank of servos or driving multiple LED channels with fine-grained brightness control.
