How It Works The detector responds to the amplitude of an RF signal, producing an output voltage that is proportional to the logarithm of the input signal level. This logarithmic response is particularly useful because it allows the detector to handle a wide dynamic range without losing resolution at either end of the scale. The device can extend the detectable dynamic range by 55 dB, meaning it can pick up both very weak and relatively strong signals while maintaining a usable output. It is capable of detecting RF power levels from -55 dBm up to 0 dBm and converting that into a corresponding DC voltage.
