Power Requirements and Connections For reliable operation, an input voltage of 8 to 9V at 200mA is recommended, which suits the onboard 78L05 voltage regulator. The module draws its 8V supply from the motherboard via the 14-pin connection, marked as 8V GND. Connection to an encoder is made through the 5-pin and 6-pin positions, with the encoder's 7-pin in the middle linking to the digital matrix input. While a 12V input can be used, it is only suitable for short-term testing as the board will heat up under sustained use at that voltage.
