AD9850 DDS Signal Generator Module, 0-55MHz Frequency with LCD Display

AD9850 DDS Signal Generator Module Overview This compact DDS signal generator module is built around the AD9850 chip and delivers a practical frequency source for electronics workbench use. It covers a continuous adjustment range from 0 to 55MHz in precise 1Hz increments, giving you fine control when setting output frequencies for testing, prototyping or repair tasks. The onboard LCD display shows the current settings clearly, so you can read and adjust values quickly during use. Power Supply and Voltage Regulation The module includes a 78L05 voltage regulator to stabilise the input supply. For normal operation, an input voltage of 8 to 9V DC at around 200mA is recommended, as this sits within the ideal range for reliable performance. While a 12V input can be used, it is only suitable for short-term testing because the board will heat up noticeably at that level. For extended use, stick to the lower 8 to 9V range to keep the module running comfortably. Connection and Setup Wiring the module is straightforward when you follow the labelled pins. Connect the 5-pin and 6-pin headers according to the connection diagram, with the encoder on the 7-pin connector in the middle linking to the digital matrix input. The 14-pin header provides the 8V GND connection, which carries the 8V power supply from the motherboard. Once wired correctly, the module is ready for frequency adjustment and signal output. Frequency Adjustment and Control The rotary encoder gives you direct control over the output frequency, with continuous adjustment across the full 0 to 55MHz range. The 1Hz step size means you can dial in very specific frequencies without coarse jumps, which is particularly useful when you need a precise reference signal for alignment, filtering or circuit evaluation. The LCD updates in real time as you adjust, so you always have immediate visual confirmation of the current output setting.
