Description

Chestnut honey from Fior di Loto is a dark honey with reddish hues, and a bitter taste, unlike other honeys. If it is pure, it remains liquid for several years, due to the high fructose content and low glucose content. The smell is intense and very characteristic and unmistakable, tending to burnt wood and tannin. It is recommended as a sweetener, or in combination with cakes, biscuits or rusks. It is also used in the preparation of various recipes. In recent years, the combination of honeys with cheeses has spread. Orange honey enhances the flavor of the Ragusa cheese, tending to spicy. Store in a cool, dry place, away from light and heat sources.
