Folic Acid from Natures Plus is a dietary supplement of calcium L-methylfolate, based on rice bran. Methylfolate (calcium L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate) is the metabolically active form of folate. A water-soluble vitamin necessary for the formation of structural proteins and hemoglobin, it is important for pregnant women, especially during the preconception period, as it helps protect the baby against birth defects and prevent neural tube defects. Supplementation with calcium methylfolate ensures greater absorption of the vitamin, as it is not affected by intestinal imbalances or metabolic disorders. The advantages of using L-methylfolate over folic or folinic acid are: - It has a seven times greater bioavailability. - It reaches levels in CSF three times higher than those in blood due to its ability to cross the BBB. - Reduces Homocysteine levels more effectively.
