Craftsmen chose the clay according to their needs.Pugging ClayAfter washing the refined clay still have many bubbles inside.If without pugging process the clay can not be shaped well and will affect the quality,so people treaded and beat clay repeatedly.Because of pugging, the structure of caly becomes more dense and uniform, so it is easier to shape the clay.PottingThe way of potting includes three methods which are throwing,modeling and shaping.Throwing is to shape the wet clay into round objects like bowls,plates or pots on a revolving potter's wheel by stepping on the footboard. If the object is in irregular shape, it can be thrown part by part and in the end connected together.Modeling way is suitable for making polygonal vessel like Cong-shaped vase and hexagonal shaped vase, which can be model each surfaces first and joint together at last.Shaping means to shape or sculpture figures or animals by hand.DecorationThe decoration methods of Longquan kilns have engraving, incising, pressing, sculpturing, through carving. The glazed biscuit will be fired again and then will be corrosion resisting, low absorbent and strengthened. In ancient times, people fired biscuit and glazed many times to thicken the glaze gradually and make the glaze look nore clear and humid like jade.
