Without applying downward pressure, push the blade through the slot, from the heel to its tip (pull the blade in, not out). 4. Do not move the blade back and forth in the slot (pull and push). If additional sharpening is required after the first pull, take the knife and reposition it so the heel is on top of the slot, then pull the blade through again. 5. Most dull blades require 3-5 passes through the groove to properly sharpen. 6. For metal knives: Once the sharpening is complete, run the metal knife through the slot (same as above) to polish and remove any debris. Important: 1. Not suitable for ceramic or serrated knives/scissors. 2. Do not put the sharpener in the dishwasher. 3. Keep away from children. 4. Sharpening may discolor some blades, this is normal.
