The raven motif is present twice: The eyelet is decorated with a raven skull, and in the lower part of the hammer a complete raven sits in a rune circle. Meaning of Symbols: Thor's Hammer is also known as Thor's Hammer, Mjölnir or Mjollnir. According to Norse mythology, Mjölnir was the magical weapon of the thunder god Thor. Hurled against its enemies, the hammer never missed its target and always returned to its owner's hands. It stands as a symbol of strength and energy. The raven motif is very popular on Thor's hammers, because according to mythology, the father of the gods Odin owned two ravens, Hugin and Munin. He sent them out daily on reconnaissance so that they could tell him everything that was going on on earth. The raven was therefore considered a symbol of knowledge. In addition, it was also known as an animal of the battlefield. Runes were used by the Germanic peoples from the 2nd to the 14th century, especially for inscriptions on stone. Most surviving runic inscriptions date from Viking Age Scandinavia.
