Worth knowing: In its natural habitat, the Pink Angel’s Trumpet can become an impressive up to five meter tall, tree-like shrub. Even tub plants can grow up to two meters high, and fascinate throughout the summer with its up to 30 cm big and constantly replenishing trumpet-flowers. In the evening the Angel’s Trumpet exhales an intense, seductive scent that is truly magnificent.. Natural Place: The Pink Angel’s Trumpet has its natural habitat in the tropical climate of the forested coastal regions of South East Brazil. Cultivation: Seed propagation indoors is possible throughout the year. To increase the germinability, you should place the seeds overnight in warm water for priming. Then, plant the seeds about 1 cm deep into moist potting compost and cover the seed container with clear film to prevent the earth from drying out. Don’t forget to make some holes in the clear film and take it every second or third day completely off for about 2 hours. That way you avoid mold formation on your potting compost. Place the seed container somewhere bright and warm with a temperature between 20°C and 25° Celsius and keep the earth moist, but not wet. The germination takes about two to four weeks. Place: Your plant likes to be kept in a warm and full sunny spot - a slightly wind-protected place near a heat-preseving wall would be ideal. Care: Choose a big tub for planting since the Angel’s Trumpet grows very fast during the summer. Due to the massive foliage and the lush blossoms, it needs huge amounts of water. During high season you should water your plant penetratingly at least in the morning and in the evening, otherwise the leaves will become limp quickly. From May until October it is absolutely necessary for a rich blossoming to give fertilizer for tub plants on a weekly basis. In spring, after the so-called ice saints, you can also plant your Angel’s Trumpet out. The best way to do so, is by using a mesh pot that is sunk entirely into the earth and can provide a good moisture exchange with the surrounding soil. In autumn you can retrieve the mesh pot by cutting off the outlaying roots. During Winter: During winter, keep the Angel’s Trumpet in a bright or darker and well-ventilated, but most importantly, cool room with a temperature between 4° and 10° Celsius. Prepare your plant for hibernation by pruning thoroughly and sealing bigger wounds. Keep it just moist, so that the roots are not drying out. In a conservatory with enough light, pruning will not be necessary.
